Because I self-publish my books, I am responsible for marketing it. I love writing, but I am no salesman! So, I have conversations with the Lord often and have to answer Him when He asks, "So why did you write this book? If it was important to write it, then it is equally important to draw people to its message. What's the message?"
I then remind myself that I wanted to convince people that we CAN be fearless. Since God tells us not to fear over 300 times, then He must know it's possible to be fearless. The book tells 40 stories from the Bible of how God overtook people's fear,s and it all boils down to the truth in one Scripture: "Perfect love casts out fear" (1 John4:18).
Over and over, every devotional speaks the same truth: If we feel safely encompassed in God's love, we won't fear. Every marriage should reflect this truth. God designed the husband to be the provider and protector, the one who makes the wife feel provided for and thus safe. His role is to remind us of what God is to us. Because He provides and protects (like a shepherd with his sheep), we feel safe, and if we're safe, we have nothing to fear.
So the all important message is understanding and experiencing the love of God. Every fear exposes a place in our heart where we don't think God loves us enough. The only way to overcome fear is getting to know Him as our Lover, the One who can take care of everything that threatens us. Oh, how He loves, like no other! Take your eyes off the thing you fear and get lost in the love of your Provider and Protector! Then you'll be fearless!
So today, once again, I remind myself that THIS IS A MESSAGE WORTH PROMOTING (worth stepping outside my comfort zone). If you think so too, share the book with your friends!
