Tonight begins the Feast of Trumpets, one of seven biblical Feasts OF THE LORD (not the Jews) listed in Leviticus 23. They are a prophetic picture of the life of Jesus, God's Messiah (though most Jews don't understand that). Whereas Passover reminds us of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, the Feast of Trumpets is a prophetic picture of His Second Coming when...
"...the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other" (Matt. 24:30-31; also mentioned in 1 Thess.4:16-17).
On this feast day, the Jews celebrate God as king and form their traditional braided Sabbath bread into a ring to resemble a crown. In an online article from Israel Today, a writer explained the difference in the Hebrew words for "ruler" and "king." A ruler forces his will on the people, but a king "is one to whom the people have voluntarily pledged their devotion and service."
When Jesus comes, He will be both ruler and king. He will rule with authority over all, and "every knee will bow and every tongue will confess" Him to be the rightful ruler, even His enemies. But He will come to earth as King of all kings and Lord of all lords accompanied by those who voluntarily choose Him as their king (Rev. 19:11-16).
Today is a day to celebrate and be thankful that JESUS IS COMING SOON AS KING OVER ALL THE EARTH!
"And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!' and let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely...He who testifies to these things says, 'Surely I am coming quickly.' Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" (Rev. 22:17, 20).
