Anxiety comes from the spirit of fear, so anxiety, worry, and fret must also be targeted if we are to become fearless. One area that causes anxiety is unanswered prayer. But what does Paul say?
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving [knowing He IS going to answer], let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6).
But you say, I have been praying...for YEARS! Jesus encourages us in Luke 18:1, "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart," and then told the parable of the nagging woman who pestered an ungodly judge to take her case until he gave in.
We must have CONFIDENCE that God is not giving up! "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him" (1 John 5:14-15).
I've been praying for my daughter's return to the Lord for over 20 years. Every time I visit her, I am discouraged because of her hard heart towards God, but I always return to trust in the Lord, the One who holds the jackhammer that will break up the fallow ground of her heart.
Lay down the anxiety and exchange it for God's all-surpassing peace. He hears every prayer you pray. Not one is forgotten, and He's working on the answer!
